As Seen On...

“Choose the right people to be with you … choose the right people to hold your hand through the fire … choose people who can see the unseen, hear the unheard, and feel things that are scary.” Ana

Welcome to our new special series called “Inside Thoughts Out loud: Thoughts During a Pandemic!!” We are truly in a time of uncertainty. This pandemic is triggering memories, emotions, and thoughts –– some new, but some that bring us back to a painful past. We have created this podcast series to allow you to join the conversation about the insights you have gained during this time in our lives. We encourage you to share your story and feel connected!

In this episode, we asked about the power of love in the time of COVID and how you have shown love during this time to friends, family, coworkers, neighbors, or even strangers. We thought we would hear stories about romance, or even random acts of kindness, however, we learned that love is much more. Love is about speaking your truth, listening to others, and giving. One of our responses was from Ana, an entrepreneur originally from New York and currently residing in Florida and who is also member of our Dream Accelerator coaching group (EDA). We had the pleasure of bringing her on to discuss her love story –– a story about how she speaks her truth and love through honesty while living with depression.

Ana discusses how she is honest in confronting her depression through motherhood. With her powerful words, she has made us rethink what love is really about. In this episode, we talk about pain, feeling hopeless, and suicide. Please know that if you are struggling during this time, you are not alone and we have included resources for you in the below. As Ana has taught us, there is no good without bad, or bad without good. If we are honest and loving with ourselves and others, we can move through these difficult times together.

In this episode, we talk about:

  • Ana discusses how she realized what keeps her going even while mourning the loss of people who were close to her and realizing some “ugly truths.” Her warriors are her daughters. Who are your warriors? What keeps you going?
  •  We discuss how feeling lost and hopeless can come out of nowhere, but by surrounding ourselves with the right people, we can come out stronger.
  • We touch on generational pain and how awareness and truth can halt these cycles. How you see things can really make a difference. Ask yourself, “What can I learn from this?”
  • Ana gives advice to those who may be new to feeling these pains. We should walk with people who have our backs and not listen to the negative voices in our heads.
  • Ana believes we should not be afraid to compliment strangers. Letting someone know you see them can really make a difference. We should, as Ana says, “Hug others with our words.”

Thought Questions/ Reflections:

As we have learned, showing someone love can be as simple as a compliment or as big as having someone’s back through depression. Giving each other love is especially important during this uncertain time. How will you show others love? How will you show yourself love?
